An idyllic setting - a castle on a lake near the woods. Very lovely! The colors are bright and clear, and have the warmth of an early autumn day. This charming scene was handpainted and signed by Arthur Comyn (AC). Comyn was an artist with Pickard Studio in Chicago between 1903-1912.
This cake plate measures 10" across the handles, 9 3/8" across plate. It is painted on a Noritake, Nippon blank, and carries the Pickard Studio decorating mark 7 (1912-1918).
The plate is in very fine condition, with only the most minimal wear to the outer edge of the gold border. There are two specks of paint missing; a tiny pinpoint that can be seen at the 6 o'clock position in the lead photo, and a flake on the third birch tree trunk (near the yellow paint-see closeup). Both, all but invisible. A great design by a very desirable artist.....
