Offering this original cast iron standing clown, jester or garden gnome penny still bank, secured at the back with a slotted screw. This is definitely an older one, at least to the 1960s/1970s. A similar clown bank is shown in a John Wright General Store catalog. Their items were offered in a limited production and marked with a four digit number inside, so I am leaning towards John Wright as the maker. There are also earlier versions of this bank listed in Moore's The Penny Bank Book, some made as early as 1908 by Williams, all very similar.
This bank has a four digit number inside, difficult to read but begins with 8.
Measures: 6 inches high, 2 inches wide and about 1 3/4 inches deep.
Weighs: 11 oz.
Great condition, with no breaks or damage and nice smooth casting. Has the original white, red and green painted finish, with some small losses and light wear. Inside has only a light coating of rust that should clean up nicely.
