Offering this whimsical wooden bear and blacksmith toy. Figures are set in motion, pounding their hammers on the center anvil, when the two planks they are attached to are pulled back and forth. Figures appear to be hand carved and are hand painted. It is definitely an older toy, dating 'at least' back to the 1960s.
Condition: Bear might have had a tail nub because there is a spot of paint missing, otherwise perfect, with a fierce looking growl. Man is missing the front part of his leg on the back of the toy (bear's teeth were painted only on the front). A replacement nail was added to the leg. Paint in good condition, just showing some wear where the fingers were placed to set it in motion. Toy works perfectly. As they hammer, it makes a clunking hammering sound.
Measurements: 9 1/4 inches to end of planks in one position and extends out to 9 1/2 inches. About 3 7/8 inches high and about 1 inch front to back.
Marks: I can read the word Russia, but difficult to make out what is in front of that.
