Antique Victorian silverplate calling card tray from James W. Tufts Boston. The sensual Art Nouveau design consists of repousse flowing vines, swirls, tendrils and poppy flowers, on a free form shape tray.
Measurements: 9 1/2 inches wide, 6 7/8 inches front to back, 3/4 inches high.
Condition: Has a partial outline of a calling card that must have sat in place for a considerable amount of time. Some wear to the original luster, but no wear through of the silver plate. Very detailed repousse design. Small scattered elevated areas that look like little blobs of silverplate from when it was made, or aging of the finish. Does not detract noticeably. Can be seen in the images.
Marks: Reverse is marked Plate Guaranteed, James W. Tufts Boston, 712. Dates to late 1800s.
