This portrait or photograph frame dates 19th century to early 1900s. Frame is gilt over copper, with an ornate stamped leaf and scroll design and a tiny beaded edge. Hinged footed back easel is marked James McCreery Co., New York, an early Manhattan, N.Y. department store.
This lovely antique tabletop frame will hold a 5 1/2 by 4 inch portrait or photograph, with overall size of frame 5 3/4 by 4 3/8 inch. Metal easel back slides securely into the outer frame.
Condition is very good. Most of the gilt has worn, creating a copper finish with gilt highlights. Glass may be original and has chipping around the edge, but it is hidden behind the frame and remains sound.
A sweet frame to display a precious family photograph!
