This elusive green sponge ware baby or child's mug was made by The Brush McCoy Pottery Co., pictured in a 1912 catalog. The word "BABY" is embossed in high relief on the front and back of the mug, that features two handles so the child could learn to drink without assistance.
Mug measures 3 3/4 inches high, 3 1/4 inches across the top, and 4 1/4 inches handle to handle. Base is marked Patent Applied For and the number 45.
Mug has light overall crazing, but no hairlines or cracks. There is some wear to the finish along the top of the rim, a tiny chip on one handle and a small chip on the inside of the rim (5/16 x 3/16). Green sponged color remains vibrant and bright.
A wonderful find for a collector of early spongeware or vintage baby items!
