This vintage Victorian opalware glass sugar shaker or muffineer is a semi-translucent opaque white milk glass, with a design of rose pink orchids against a pale yellow background. It dates late 1800s to early 1900s, though the pattern and maker remain a mystery.
Shaker stands 5 1/4 inches high and 3 1/4 inches at its widest. There are no flaws or imperfections on the exterior of the glass, and design remains vibrant, with no losses. Only fault is some roughness on the interior rim from its making, and one chip that is well concealed by the cap. Metal cap shows some wear to the top surface, but is in very good condition, with no dents.
Shaker has a unique shape with gently tapering sides, ending in an indented narrow band of fluting at the base. Pretty floral design and a lovely early muffineer!
