This sculptural sterling bracelet is made like a Mobius strip. August Mobius was a German mathematician who lived from 1790 to 1868. A Mobius strip is a is a continuous one sided surface formed by twisting one end of a rectangular strip through 180 degrees and attaching it to the other end. To my knowledge, Vivienne Torun was the first designer to make a Mobius bracelet in the 1970s. This bracelet is very similar to hers, only it was made in Taxco, after 1980. 5/8" at the widest part and 1/4" at the twist. 7 7/8" interior circumference. Solid sterling. Weighs 1.6 ounces or 44 grams. Marked T(for Taxco) C-98, 925, Mexico. Excellent vintage condition, no dents. The bracelet will hang with the twist up because the thicker part is heavier.
