A find from Antique Week in Round Top. As the pictures show the quality of the silversmith, Larry Begay, is outstanding. The buckle has a strong blue turquoise with pyrite matrix, measuring 1 1/4" by 3/8", bezel set, surrounded by leaves and cactus flowers. The center background looks to be tufa cast, then a chiseled border. The outside has moon shapes all the way around. 2 2/8" wide by 3". The buckle is supported by two complementary pieces into which the soft leather belt slides. 1 3/4" wide by 2 3/8". The soft leather belt is 1 1/4" wide by 50" long. Easily cut to your waist size plus enough to put through the loops. Weighs 4.65 ounces. Marked L(unknown symbol) B for Larry Begay, a Navajo. The belt is a little worn, the turquoise has an old stable crack, otherwise excellent vintage condition. One of the best I've seen. You won't want to miss this one.
