Excellent porcelain figure of French Revolutionary War General Charles Francois Dumouriez 1792 -1823 manufactured by Kister Porcelain, Scheibe-Alsbach, Thuringia Germany. From about 1894 and subsequently, the Kister factory has made hard paste porcelain figures in the Meissen style and historical figures like this example.
The Battle of Valmy was a major victory for France during the Revolutionary Wars following the French Revolution. With General Francois Kellermann, Dumouriez stopped Prussian troops that advanced toward Paris commanded by the Duke of Brunswick near the village of Valmy in Champagne-Ardenne.
Measures approximately 9.5" tall. No damage or restoration. Blue underglaze mark for Kister with overglaze "Germany".
