Fantastic contemporary porcelain clay vase by retired Virginia studio artist Debra Swauger hand wrought in tones of muted pink and blue.
Its ovoid, shouldered form has an incised Pueblo style decoration with grassy outcrops combined with textural lines, waves and roping border in bas relief, and is accentuated with applied white porcelain raised "beads". The handmade fetish in the form of a blue and pink variegated sea shell hangs below a variegated blue twig tied up with lapis colored stones.
Stands approximately 8.5" tall x 6.5" widest. No damage or restoration. Two areas of slight discoloration (see photos) do not significantly detract. Incised signature "Debra Swauger" underneath. This beautiful vase with its lovely details and soft southwest palate will fit in nicely in any contemporary setting.
