Delightful! French faience, tin glazed earthenware figural vase in the form of an open mouth pig having glass eyes and sitting upright on two legs. The pig's body is enameled in bright polychrome colors of blue, green and yellow ochre creating this fantastical decoration which includes a peacock perched on a flowering branch.
Stands approximately 9" tall. Slight chipping to a few high points such as the ear, tail and hoof (see photo) but does not detract.
Signed Mosanic, but most likely made at Desvres. Mosanic was taken over by the London, England retail firm of Max Emanuel & Co. in 1895 likely for sale at their London shop, (1895 – 1917).
