Majestic 16 inch tall circa 1900 Bohemia Austria porcelain moon flask form handled vase.
Its flattened ovoid form with a hand painted background depicts celestial heavens layered in voluminous clouds and overlaid in a transferware decoration by Carl Larsen.
Maidens in classical dress rejoice in an ethereal celebration surrounded by cherubs, putti and doves. The vase's sevres blue foot and neck rim is overlaid in gold gilt tracery and has Rocaille style tendril handles in gilt enamel.
This is a large, regal example of the porcelain produced by Schmidt & Company (Carlsbad Austria) which was founded in 1883 by Lazarus and Rosenfled. Each side features a different scene.
Signed in margins of transferware "Carl Larsen". Stands approximately 16" x 5.5"deep x 10.5" wide. Slight wear to gold gilt enamel at handles and rim. Over glaze blue mark for 1891 – 1918.
