Exquisite ovoid form, hand enameled opaque white opaline glass vase having a polychrome decoration depicting two classically dressed maidens adorned with rose garlands by a winged cupid or putto. The reverse side is decorated with cherubs in flight playing with a dove. Gold enameled neck and foot ring.
Signed in lower right margin E.F. Roger. There was a late nineteenth century artist, E. F. Roger who decorated Sevres and Limoges type porcelains and French opaline glass. However, we believe that this is from the Bohemian glass manufactory of Josef Ahne, (Steinschonau) who was awarded at the Paris exposition of 1878 and the German Exposition of 1873.
Stands approximately 8" tall x 5.5" wide x 4.5" deep. Polished pontil. No damage or restoration. Very slight wear to gold gilt. Blue ink mark at side.
This is a very fine antique glass vase having a beautiful hand enameled decoration that you will certainly enjoy adding to your collection.
