An antique porcelain hinged dresser box, its crimson red ground decorated with elaborate gold enameling surrounding a central cartouche depicting an eighteenth century courting scene in the style of Jean-Antoine Watteau, and signed in the margin “Max”. The interior of the box is also decorated with hand painted floral bouquets in polychrome colors. Though Sevres in style this is most likely Limoges or Old Paris, circa fourth quarter, nineteenth century.
Measures approximately 3.4 inches longest x 2.8 widest x 2 inches tallest. Wear to gold ormolu and gold enameling. All over crazing to glaze is normal for this product and age. No chipping or restoration. Good hinge and clasp. Weighs approximately 6.9 ounces BEFORE packing. Ship standard size 12x12x8.
