Tiffany Studios C1905 Patinated Bronze and Favrile Glass Mosaic Swirl Pattern Pen Tray
A rare Tiffany Studios patinated bronze pen tray in the elusive Wave or Swirl pattern. Its Art Nouveau form with undulating, swirling wave pattern is framed within an inlaid mosaic of iridescent Tiffany Favrile glass. Circa 1905.
This design is attributed to Clara Wolcott Driscoll (American, 1861 – 1944) who was head of the Tiffany Studios Women's Glass Cutting Department. She is credited with over thirty original lamp designs that were produced by Tiffany Studios during her tenure. For more information you can visit the Corning Museum of Glass and the CMOG website.
Carries impressed mark, Tiffany Studios New York, and number 24336, along with logo for Tiffany Glass & Decorating Co. Lovely condition with small area of over polishing to dark patina (shiny area - see photo). Measures approximately 7.75 inches longest x 3 inches widest.
