Lovely Steuben Glass sculpture, Partridge in a Pear Tree is modeled as a clear, colorless crystal pear with a slice removed revealing an 18k gold tree fruiting with twelve pears and a roosting partridge. Designed by Lloyd Atkins in 1968, this design is inspired by the circa 1780 English Christmas carol, “The twelve days of Christmas” wherein the first gift from a true love is a partridge in a pear tree.
Measures approximately 5.8” tall. No chips or restoration. Comes along with a grey Steuben box that is not original. Signed in script under foot, “Steuben”. Steuben stock number 1014. See the book by Mary Jean Madigan, Steuben Glass An American Tradition in Crystal, page 248 for catalog listing.
