Scarce quadruple plate figural toothpick holder or match holder by James W. Tufts, Boston, MA. Circa 1880 - 1890.
The enormously popular characters developed by the late nineteenth century English writer and illustrator Catherine Greenaway were known as "Kate Greenaway" children and were dressed in Regency, late eighteenth century dress.
Stands approximately 4.75" tall and 4" widest. Carries impressed trademark for James W. Tufts (registered 1875) along with a number 34C4.
