A cut and polished glass sculpture and paperknife set based on the sword of King Arthur and the legend of the Sword and the Stone. The angular cut, heavy glass “stone” holds a letter opener in the form of the sword Excalibur. The sword in polished chrome has a gilt-finished hilt and red sword tassel. This circa 1970’s set is an interpretation and more affordable option to the original crystal sculpture designed by James Houston for Steuben Glass in the 1960’s (retails $3000+).
Measures approximately 8.5” tallest. Unsigned glass stone measures approximately 3.2” tall x 3.5” x 3”. No damage or restoration. Sword measures approximately 8” long and carries previous owner monogram on one side, “Japan” impressed on the other side.
