19th century blue opal glass mantel vases having a jack in the pulpit style rim with lavender interior, a flattened globular body and short pedestal foot.
Each with a naturalistic enamel decoration depicting birds perched on leafy branches assaulting insects, executed in a grisaille palette of black and white, and picked out in gold enamel. Circa second half, nineteenth.
Measures approximately 10.7” tall x 6.5” wide. Apparently unsigned. Wear to gold enamels at rim and foot. Roughness on front of right-hand vase (bird facing left) has embedded gold enamel and likely occurred during manufacture.
