Limoges porcelain charger having a scalloped, gilt edge rim and decorated with hand painted purple, red and white grapes on leafy vines against a sunset background.
Measures approximately 13.75” diameter. Condition is excellent with no wear to damage to decoration. There is one shallow circular depression that we believe looks like a shallow chip, but it unusual in that it is under the glaze, and is located on the backside of the charger’s outer edge. This obviously existed at the time the charger was decorated, glazed and fired; and the gilt edge is painted over this area. (see photo). Underglaze mark in green for Pouyat wares, circa 1890 – 1932.
