An exquisite early 19th century gold and enamel pendant locket set with seed pearls.
Fashioned in 18 carat gold (tested), the locket is beautifully and exquisitely decorated with a central panel of royal blue enamel over an engraved ground of sun-burst rays.
Around the blue enamel is a border of white, decorated with red flowers and green leaves, and these linked with gold wire-work.
To the centre of the blue enamel is a gold motif of twin hearts surmounted with a lover's knot bow. The hearts and bow are set with seed pearls
The reverse of the pendant has a glazed locket lined with cream silk.
The size is 50mm x 23mm and 10.2g in weight.
This fabulous and rare jewel is in fantastic original condition, and is of museum quality. It comes in the original silk and velvet lined tooled leather case - slightly scuffed as shown.
Most certainly a love token given by a wealthy gentleman to his wife, this is a jewel of great rarity and beauty. They do not get much better than this. Even the pendant loop is beautifully decorated with enamel detailing.
