This is an absolutely fabulous, vintage German art glass bead necklace, dating to the 1950s and in superb original condition. Featuring a single row of pale, translucent blue glass beads, threaded onto nylon, with tiny, gold-tone spacer beads. To the centre of the necklace are suspended long, dropper beads of blue glass, graduating in length, to form a wonderful bib effect. These pale blue glass droppers are just gorgeous. Beautifully worked in a translucent, baby blue, and threaded onto copper wire, they remind me of the candles on a birthday cake. The copper wire gleams through the translucent blue glass in places, giving the effect of hints of pink in the glass. The necklace measures 14.25 inches in length, extendable to 16.25 inches by means of an extender of round blue glass beads. The longest dropper bead is 1.5 inches long, graduating to the shortest, at 0.75 inch long. The clasp is a simple hook-through, and is signed "West Germany". Condition is excellent, and original, although the necklace may have been re-strung at some time, and a couple of the dropper beads have lost their coiled, gold-tone wire strengthener where the bead is attached to the necklace. However, the necklace wears beautifully, and looks fabulous around the neck. Truly beautiful, and almost unique, in my opinion.
