Thomas Sully is famous for this lovely vintage Lithograph. It is framed in a beautiful old vining gilded wood frame of 1.25 width. The total measure is 15"x19" with the actual lithograph at 9.5" x 12". The lithograph is surrounded by a vintage pressed mat making it appear to be two mats (imbossed), thin as they were originally, top mat at 1.5" and the under mat at 3/4". I am showing the back as I bought it at auction, although I have now removed the backing and cleaned the inside of the frame and the glass. The actual print feels as though it is pastel like and the inks/media etc actually discolor the cloth if wiped gently. It is not like an ordinary lithograph. Very soft textured finish on the print. The colors are brilliant. You may wish to remat but the name of the art work is printed on the inner mat and so I left it as I found it. The mats do show age but have no glaring foxing or water marks only discoloraion as common on old papers. The gilded frame is quite old and is in pristine condition. No nicks, scratches or damage. Gorgeous design moulding.....and old.
