Shallow artglass bowl by French glassmaker Verlys. Originally Verlys produced beautiful glass pieces in France. Then in 1935 they moved the operation to the United States where they produced their works of art until 1951. The American glass was usually etched "Verlys" with a diamond point pen.
This is Verlys made in America sometime between 1935 and 1951. The work resembles Lalique and Boralac. This is a shallow bowl probably made to use as a display. The birds are very heavily embossed on the bottom side. The inner part of the bowl is smooth. Each bird is about life-size and doubles as a foot. It measures across the center 11", and several of the additional pictures show the signature in the bowls center, signed on the bottom. The glass is frosted satin glass. The formula used to make this shows that uranium was obviously used in it's production. A few very light scratches.
Overall condition is fabulous and this is a work of art!
