A gorgeous set of Gold Pickard 11" Chargers in excellent condition~ These are being sold as a set of (6) ~ These gold chargers with the etched borders were very time consuming to create as well as very dangerous.
The quality of each Pickard creation is clearly evident, especially with these stunning gold etched chargers. 1911 was the year etched gold first made it's appearance with Pickard. Trying to emulate the hammered gold seen on the artwork by Tiffany~ Pickard accomplished this with "acid etchings" extremely time consuming and very hazardous.
Pickard insisted on always 2 firings with the 24K gold etchings...Pickar by now had chosen Edward Challinor as his art director. These plates were created during this time period.
In 1925 the studio was incorporated under "Pickard Studio Inc."~ These plates bear the first lion shield mark in gold dating the plates ca.1925. Designs of this period were reminiscent of the Art Deco period .
Pardon the glare from my picture taking...there is no missing gold on the chargers.
