"Cynthia Of The Comanches" written by Catherine Troxell Gonzales with black and white illustrations by Peggy Jenkins Logan. Published by Eakin Press, Austin, Texas, 1984, stated first edition.
Introduction: "Once upon a time in early Texas... The story of Cynthia Ann Parker has been told many times, in many ways. She had just moved to her new home in the wilderness of East Texas when she was captured by a band of Comanche Indians in a tragic raid and massacre. It happened at Fort Parker near Mexia and Groesbeck in Limestone County. This is one of the first "Indian" stories told to the author when she was Cynthia's age by her Aunt Kate Shaw. The author tells of Cynthia Ann's covered wagon trip from Illinois, the massacre at Fort Parker, her capture and life among the Comanches, her marriage to Chief Peta Nocona, her family life and finally tragic recapture and return to East Texas."
