This book is arranged in two sections. The first part deals with the history of the area as it pertains to the culture and food habits of people who resided in or traveled through Michilmackinac. The second section deals with documentation of foodstuffs and gives some examples of how foods were prepared. A few adaptations to modern times were made in the interest of health and safety and because some of the ingredients are no longer obtainable in the same form as in the 1770's.
