"The Christmas Snowman" is a story by Margery Cuyler with illustrations by Johanna Westerman. Published by Arcade Publishing, copyright 1992, stated first edition.
""It is only two weeks before Christmas. For three days it has been snowing, but now the sun is out, and Kevin and Sally decide to build a snowman. He is big and round, with charcoal eyes, a carrot nose, and a radish smile. he looks like an ordinary snowman, though spiffier than most, with his red scarf and raccoon cap.
One night the full moon wakes Sally and when she and Kevin look out the window, they are amazed: Mr. Snow is moving his arm! They watch him build a snow fort, sled down Bucket Hill and skate around the pond. Next morning though he is the old Mr. Snow, straight and tall and silent as a mouse.
But then a few days before Christmas something terrible happens. The weather warms up, and Mr. Snow begins to melt. By Christmas eve he has shrunk to half his size. By tomorrow, surely, he will be completely gone!
How Kevin and Sally come up with an unusual idea for saving Mr. Snow on Christmas Eve makes for a magical holiday story.
