Stories Form Uncle Remus by Joel Chandler Harris, published by The Saalfield Publishing Company , the last copyright date is 1934, by Esther La Rose Harris.
Selected tales from the famed Uncle Remus collection, edited by Mrs. Joel Chandler Harris, wife of the author. Mrs. Harris, desiring to make the reading less difficult for children, has simplified much of the dialogue. Yet the original southern flavor and naivete remain.
Uncle Remus, an old plantation darky, is noted for his storehouse of tales. So the young son of the plantation owner seeks him out from time to time and is rewarded by hearing another story about "Brer Rabbit" and his animal friends.
Told in the inimitable style of the southland's great contributor to American literature, the stories contained in this volume include "The Wonder tar Baby", "The Calamus Root" and others.
This wonderful book is illustrated in color and black and white. All illustrations are made from the original drawlngs of A. B. Frost in the first edition.
This charming hard cover book is in very good condition with no rips or tears. It does have some shelf wear on the cover. The only writing is on the back of the front cover, (Jimmy Hayes '42). The dust jacket is worn.
