Offering a lovely and rare pair of dainty Regency Era Silk Satin Gaiter Laced Boots or Shoes. Each stamped on the bottom with several marks that are very hard to read. A fleur de lis and others that are faint. Inside under a silk liner is a label that reads: D.R. King Maker No. 227 ? Philad. These dainty shoes are made of ivory silk satin over linen with flat leather soles. They would be considered evening boots. They retain the original lacing. The shoes are for display only and show their delicacy with some splits to the silk and breakage to one of the laces. They were found folded and still retain some slight creasing in the silk that will eventually fade once displayed properly. The ivory silk color is still in wonderful condition. The photos do not do these lovely boots justice as they appear to have discoloration where infact it is shadowing from the satin.
The flat leather bottoms measure 9.5" long x 2.25" at the widest point. They are approx.. 4.75" tall.
A lovely addition to any antique textile collection!
