Offering an early, museum worthy GERMAN circa 1880-90 RABBIT. Quite rare due to age and fragility. Most likely made in the Seiffen region of Germany. The rabbit is highly detailed with meticulous painting and very collectible. MUCH earlier and harder to find than the lead putz figures. Made of early papier mache mass (dough) with carved wooden legs and ears. If you look closely you will see the detailing and fine painting. Much nicer than photos allow. Extremely fragile with some loss and fractures to paint/wood.
This was originally from a Hunting set but fits perfectly in any Christmas or Easter putz scene. Measures approx 1.25" tall to tip of ear x 2" wide.
I am in the process of listing MANY early German carved and composition figures from the early 1800's to early 1900's. Many fine, museum worthy examples from the regions of Erzgebirge, Grulich, Seiffen and Thuringia with be offered.
