Offering an early, museum worthy GERMAN circa 1880-90 Black and White Striped DOG. These are rarely found. Made in the Erzgebirge region of Germany. Attributed to C.A. Müller Oberleutensdorf. The dog is highly detailed and very collectible. MUCH earlier and harder to find than the lead putz figures. Made of early papier mache mass with wooden legs, open mouth and a VERY rare flocked cloth dust covering (veloutiert). If you look closely you will see the detailing and fine painting of his face and flocked coat. Some early repairs to legs. Much nicer than photos allow.
This was originally from a Hunting set (see last photograph for other items from the set) but fits perfectly in any dollhouse or Christmas putz scene. Measures 2.5" tall x 4" wide.
I am in the process of listing MANY early German carved and composition figures from the early 1800's to early 1900's. Many fine, museum worthy examples from the regions of Erzgebirge, Grulich, Seiffen and Thuringia with be offered. Please see my last photograph for additional animal figures and hunter figures I have available.
