Offering a very early circa 1870-80 GERMAN cow or calf. He is highly detailed and very collectible. Made of papier mache with wooden legs/ears and a very rare flocked cloth dust covering (veloutiert). Stands on a wood stand platter. Much nicer than photos allow. Made in Erzgebirge or Thuringia region of Germany. Very early, sweet addition to a putz or nativity scene. Measures 2.5" tall x 2.5" wide. In overall good condition with some flaking to flocked covering and partial breaks to carving.
I am in the process of listing MANY early German carved and composition figures from the early 1800's to early 1900's. Many fine, museum worthy examples from the regions of Erzgebirge, Grulich and Thuringia with be offered.
