Offering a primitive FOLK ART Trade Sign depicting a Rare and highly collectible 'Pony School' subject. The sign most likely dates to the early 1900's and advertises 'Mme.(Madame) Sylvie Pony School'. The blue paint is stunning and the stenciling quite lovely. The sign also advertises 'Grazing' and 'Stabling'? in the lower corners.
The sign appears to have been made from barn board and the PONY horse was expertly hand carved separately and nailed onto the sign backing. The deep indigno blue perfectly frames the sign. Remnants of the original rusted hooks for hanging are still attached to the back of the sign.
The sign in in wonderful preserved condition with expected paint wear and minor loss to the carved horse. The frame shows some wear, as shown. Overall , a rare and stunning piece of Americana folk art.
