Offering an early hand carved wooden toy peasant women created in the Erzgebirge region of Germany by famed artist Karl Muller. His figures reside in many German museums including Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden which shows many of his figurines online. skd-online-collection.skd.museum/en/contents/artists?id=11156492
Very hard to find figures this old and hunters are a rarity. This early 'cottage industry' figure is completely hand carved and painted with polychrome paint. Look closely at this expertly crafted toy & you will notice his satchel & gun strap are attached and made of heavy papier oilcloth and that his legs are pegged into the bottom. Museum worthy craftsmanship.
Measures just shy of 3" tall.
Very nice condition for age and fragility. Some paint loss and one hand is chipped.
This is one of many very early and rare Erzgebirge figures from the mid 1800's I was fortunate to acquire. Shown in the last photograph are figures representing the Nativity, Lumberman, Soldiers and more! I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases.
