Offering another wonderful series of 6 comical trade cards featuring an amusing cat rivalry! The gilt gold lithograph cards are numbered 1 to 6 and were copyright 1881 by A.B. Seeley. This would make a great gift any cat collector. Each card measures 4.25 x 2.5". In excellent unused condition with minor wear. The only thing to speak of is that the #6 card has fallen from the set and has a bend where it attached. Also, it appears that when the set was put together number 2 is ahead of number 1 in the series.
I am quite certain this was a salesman sample. The set is riveted and attached together. I have another set available that was found similar (please see my last photo).
This set is both beautiful and quite amusing! The quality of the printing is excellent and quite detailed...and the cats expressions are priceless!
The cards read: 1. I hear his footfalls Music 2. Ha! The Maltese Tis he me rival. 3. Well Sir What are you goinf to do about it? 4. For pity sake Gentlemen be calm. 5. Not dead but weary 6. Did you see ne get the best of Him?
