This gorgeous slip looks like it just stepped out of a late 1930s or 1940s Hollywood movie! Custom made in 1939 in New York City for a bride as part of her trousseau for her January, 1940 wedding at the Waldorf. It's all ecru silk with attached alencon lace, and the slightly flared hem is scalloped.
This beautiful slip was well taken care of and well stored for the last 75 years and is in overall excellent condition. One strap has pulled loose as shown and can be easily repaired by your seamstress. There may be a few light age spots in the silk that are barely noticeable, and I believe there is a pin hole in the silk. This slip has beautiful French seams and you can see the custom detail when you look at the construction.
Measurements were taken with the slip lying flat - I would estimate the size to be about a 4 in today's clothing.
Overall length (shoulder to hem): 37"
