A great table or sideboard centerpiece! This charming lidded tureen with ladle dates between 1965 - 1980, and although it's mid century, its form and composition are based on decades-old Italian faience or maiolica techniques. The tureen is white tin glazed pottery hand painted in different scenes on opposite sides. One side is decorated with a roses/floral pattern, while the opposite side features a traditional Italian farmhouse. The tureen has a marvelous raised finial and applied ribbon handles.
This is a large piece, measuring 14" handle to handle and is 9 3/8" high to the finial top. It holds a generous 3 quarts (12 cups). Perfect for soups, pastas, or other culinary delights.
Condition is very good with some edge grazes to the glaze on the underside of the interior rim as shown. There are no chips or cracks to the exterior. There are a few glaze pops common to Italian faience.
It's marked Meiselman Imports, Made in Italy, along with what we believe is the pattern number. Meiselman was a New York company that specialized in importing Italian tablewares from 1965 until 1980.
The tureen and ladle weigh 5 lbs before packing, and shipping will be via FedEx Ground/Home Delivery, insurance included.
