Avery nice, clean mid 1800's Gaudy Welsh cream jug or pitcher in the Smoking Indian pattern. The jug stands 3 3/4" tall and is free of chips and cracks, clean inside, shows little evidence of wear other than a speck of paint missing on one flower. There are no maker's marks other than the blue dots on the bottom as pictured. Gaudy Welsh pieces were made by over 100 companies in the Staffordshire, England area, making unmarked pieces common but difficult to pinpoint to a particular maker. This is a great piece to add to ~ or start! ~ a collection.
