Wow! A very hard to find complete set of 7 (14 pieces total with lids) Hall China for Hotpoint refrigerator or leftover dishes! Fabulous Art Deco design, great colors, and all pieces are in great condition with no chips or cracks! They make a great display. All pieces have the Hotpoint logo embossed on the body and are also marked on the bottom with the Hall China for Hotpoint logo. Two have glazed bottoms and the remaining 5 have dry bottoms as shown. The square dishes will nest (without lids) for storage.
This set was made in the late 1930s, when housewives were transitioning from iceboxes to the new electric refrigerators. Hotpoint, along with several other major appliance manufacturers, offered premiums to purchasers, and refrigerator dishes made by the Hall China Company of East Liverpool, Ohio, were included with purchase.
These dishes are versatile - they can be used for serving and/or storage, and they're ovenproof as well so you can bake in them (I recommend not exceeding 375 degrees).
Included in the set are the following:
> Cadet Blue water server pitcher with original cork stopper. It's 7 1/4" tall, 6 1/4" wide by 3 1/4". It holds a bit over 1 quart.
> Large dark or mustard yellow covered dish. It measures 8 1/2" square and is 3 3/4" high. It holds over 2 quarts.
> Butter yellow covered dish measuring 7" square, 3 5/8" high. It holds over 1 1/2" quarts.
> Teal green covered dish measuring 5 3/4" square, 4 3/4" high. It holds 5 cups or 1 1/4 quarts.
> Gray covered dish measuring 5" square and 3 3/4" high. It holds over 3 cups.
> Red/orange small covered dish measuring 4" square, 3 1/8" high, and holds 1 1/2 cups.
> Beige or tan rectangular covered dish measuring 6 3/4" x 4 3/8" x 3 1/2" high. It holds over 3 cups.
It goes without saying that this set is quite heavy, weighing a total of 17 lbs before packing. Shipping will be via FedEx Ground/Home Delivery, insurance included.
