A very nice early 1800s Staffordshire dog - a whippet or greyhound - in fine form, standing on all four legs with a hare at its feet. This piece has a mottled green base with gold verge line, and the dog is facing right. It is good sized, measuring 6 7/8" tall with the base measuring 6 1/2" x 2 3/8". There is no damage to the piece, though there is a bit of paint missing near the collar as shown - we believe this is original to the piece.
At the time of listing, we are also listing another whippet figure facing left. Though not identical, the pair look very good together and would be lovely on either end of a mantle or sideboard. We will combine shipping if you purchase both, so please wait for a combined invoice before making payment.
