A triangular art pottery cabinet vase or bowl from the Peter Ipsen Enke Pottery, Copenhagen, Denmark. If you love Scandinavian pottery, you'll definitely want to add this piece to your collection. The coloration of the green and dark mustard background with blackish-brown swirls that remind us of the sea all combine to make this an outstanding art piece. It stands 2 1/2" tall and each side is 3 1/4". The piece is fully hallmarked on the bottom with incised crown and the letters PIE below followed by letters and a Roman numeral as shown. The piece is in excellent condition.
Peter Ipsen founded his pottery in 1843. After his death, his wife continued to operate the pottery which then passed to his sons. Marks changed over the years, but the Crown and PIE mark was used from 1918 until the pottery closed in 1918. The form and glaze indicate that this piece was likely made between 1918-1930.
