A handsome and substantial pair of solid brass andirons by Virginia Metalcrafters. Called "Heath Andirons", these baluster andirons have a large ball top, scroll legs, and ball and claw feet. They stand 17" tall, 9 5/8" wide (measured across the front at the feet), and 8" deep. Each one is marked with the VM logo as shown. They have screw bolts at the back to attach iron log rests, or you can simply set them in front of a footed grate. They are very heavy, weighing 25 lbs.
The pair is lacquered and from a couple of feet away appear perfect. Looking closely, however, you can see that the lacquer is worn (see photo) in some places--certainly appropriate to age and use. We would definitely leave them as they are as they look shiny and fabulous, but you could polish them if you desire.
Overall, a beautiful pair that exemplifies the craftsmanship for which Virginia Metalcrafters is known. Virginia Metalcrafters closed its Virginia factory several years ago, and their pieces continue to be highly sought after for their high quality and traditional designs.
