Simple and elegant tall celery vase or goblet in the Saxon pattern by Bakewell, Pears & Company c. 1875. This is Early American Pattern or Pressed Glass, and a "celery" was exactly that--filled with celery stalks and placed on the table to accompany a meal. We think today's hosts and hostesses would also use this on a bar when serving Bloody Marys!
The pattern consists of bevels with Xx in beveled squares beneath, followed by more bevels into the faceted stem. Overall height is 8 7/8".
The piece is in great condition - one little nibble to the tip of a bevel as can be seen in the photo. The underside shows shelf wear appropriate to its 140 year life span, and there's a tiny blob of glass on one seam on the foot, done in manufacture.
Weighs 1 1/4 lbs before packing, and shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail, insurance included.
