Stunning Frederick Carder era lobed perfume bottle in Verre de Soie with raspberry red glass flame stopper. 4 1/2" tall to the top of the stopper. Both the bottle and the stopper are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The Verre de Soie finish is lustrous, and the light coming through the stopper gives it a Cluthra appearance. This is an iconic Carder era Steuben piece, immediately recognizable and highly prized by collectors. It is unsigned but well documented by Carder himself in his line drawings.
Verre de Soie literally translates "glass of silk" and was Carder's favorite finish. It's silky feel is very pleasant to the touch. The art nouveau design is reminiscent of pieces designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and Steuben c. 1900.
