A wonderful old Limoges porcelain soup tureen with lid made by the William Guerin company. This tureen has clusters of pink and white flowers--we believe these are roses--and green leaves. The body of the tureen is fluted and the rim and foot are scalloped. The lid is also scalloped and embossed with roses near the handle/finial. The wonderful rope handles and lid finial are gold wash or gold daub. Overall dimensions are 11 1/4" handle to handle and 6 1/2" high to the top of the lid finial. The lower portion of the tureen, excluding the handles, measures 8 3/" x 8" x 3 7/8" high. There is a cutout in the lid to accommodate a ladle. The tureen is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or crazing, and the interior is immaculate. Both pieces are marked with the green Guerin mark as shown.
