Another of our beautiful antique Limoges porcelain dishes! We believe this is a bread tray due to its very large size (seems way too big for a celery dish, though the shape is similar). The tray has expertly painted orange poppies and greens leaves on an all over pale green background, wide gold band trim, and is signed by the known artist "Durand". Of especially great interest is that this tray is also painted on the bottom sides with leaves and poppy buds! The plate bears the early and rare Mavaleix monogram mark used in the very early 1900's, and it also has the Borgfeldt Coronet Limoges mark. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks, a whisper of wear to the gilding on one side edge. Note that there are some light pale black lines on the underside--these are underglaze and the piece came from the factory this way--we're not sure what they are and although not distracting as they don't show from the front, we mention them because we're picky about such things. The tray measures 13 5/8" long, 6 5/8" wide, and is 2 1/4" high. Truly an uncommon treasure to add to your collection.
