Another of our wonderful large Jackfield syrup pitchers or jugs with gold leaves decoration. This pitcher dates to the early 1800's and is in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks, and only a whisper of wear to the decoration and a small wrinkle in the edge of the lid as shown. 7 3/8" tall. Jackfield pitchers are known for their glossy black glaze over red clay and were mostly made in the Jackfield area near Shropshire, England, though excavations have shown that they were also made in Staffordshire in the 1800's.
A beautiful old jug to add to your collection.
