Nelson Rockefeller, a member of the famous Rockefeller family and Governor of New York, and his wife Happy were avid art collectors and patrons of New York's museums. In the late 1970s, reproductions of some of their exquisite acquisitions were reproduced and made available to the public through retailer Neiman Marcus. This lovely 6 sided dish was reproduced Vista Alegre, Portugal, for Mottahedeh. It is a replica of the original Ch'ien Lung porcelain teapot stand, though for modern use it can serve as a trinket or pin dish or as a wine coaster. Beautiful pink and purple flowers decorate the center, while the upturned rim has a purple fishnet pattern interspersed with gold trimmed floral cartouches.
The dish measures 5 3/8" in diameter and is in excellent, unused condition. It comes in its original presentation box with paperwork, though the box is a bit storage shabby. The dish is marked on the bottom as shown.
